A suspension-type thermostat-controlled FM200 fire extinguisher is
a device that automatically senses and reacts to temperature
changes to initiate firefighting. This apparatus is installed on
ceilings or walls and features an integrated thermostat sensor
that, when the preset temperature threshold in the protected area
is reached due to a fire or similar event, triggers the release of
FM200 (also known as HFC-227ea) fire suppressant to extinguish
fires. These types of extinguishers are particularly suitable for
critical facilities that are sensitive to temperature fluctuations
and require automated, unattended fire protection, such as data
centers, communication equipment rooms, archives, and electrical
substations.
The working principle involves having a specialized thermostat
activation mechanism within the fire extinguisher. When the ambient
temperature within the protected zone rises to the predetermined
discharge temperature because of a fire, this thermal control
mechanism activates automatically, opening the container valve to
expel the HFC-227ea agent rapidly into the source of the fire or
throughout the entire protected area, thereby achieving swift and
